World Health Day was set up to mark the the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organisation in 1948. Each year on the 7th April the WHO organises international, regional and local events to raise awareness about a particular theme, and this year it’s blood pressure.
World Health Day and the time leading up to it is a great time to teach, learn about and discuss specific themes and also health in general. Raising awareness at a young age is important and can help sew good seeds for the future. For some useful classroom resources about health then visit Scholastic’s resource bank, and take a look at the WHO website for more information about World Health Day.
