This weekend (17th December) marks the beginning of the Festival of Winter Walks 2016 and we think it’s a fabulous chance to get some fresh air and work off some of those mince pies and chocolates that we’ve been enjoying recently. Ludo our office dog is especially keen!
Each year the Ramblers Association runs its Festival of Winter Walks with the aim of encouraging people to get outside and get moving. They’re hoping that everyone will use the festive period (the event runs from the 17th December to the 8th January 2017) to gather their family and friends and go for a good old stroll. Long or short it doesn’t matter, walking is a fantastic way to get some gentle (or strenuous!) exercise, enjoy the benefits that can bring and enjoy Great Britain in all of its glory.
You can visit The Ramblers website for lots of ideas of walks to do and routes to download. There are lots of festival activities too, and the chance to earn badges (naturally we think this is a brilliant idea!) and win prizes with every walk you complete. Plus there are lots of guided walks to join in and ideas to make walks more exciting for children. Find out more on the Ramblers website and follow the fun on the event’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
