Books, beautiful books! World Book Day (2nd March) is nearly here and we reckon it’s the perfect time to share a love of all things bibliophilic. From medieval manuscripts to beautifully illustrated pages which bring words to life, to searing graphic novels and favourite well-thumbed paperbacks, we think books are pretty magical things. Not only is reading, and making, drawing and colouring illustrations, excellent for building creativity and imagination, it also contributes to the development of logical thinking and reasoning skills.
This World Book Day 15 million £1 book tokens will be distributed (which is nearly one each for every single young person in Great Britain) to spend on a number of special £1 books written by top authors. There are loads of resources to use in the classroom or at home, in primary and secondary settings, including videos, posters, quizzes, and a special World Book Day pack. There’s also tons of inspiration for running your own activities and sharing your day with others. You can also follow and share in the World Book Day activities via their Facebook and Twitter pages.
