Bullying is a difficult subject but unfortunately one which many education professionals have to face. Next week, 16-20th November, is Anti-Bullying week and we think it’s the perfect time to raise awareness about the issue of bullying. The week is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and the theme this year is ‘Make a noise about bullying’.
It’s hoped that the theme this year will achieve a number of aims: to empower young people to talk about bullying, whether it is happening to them or others; to help parents, carers and schools to talk to young people about the issue of bullying; and to support those who work in education to respond effectively to instances of, and issues around, bullying.
There’s lots of different ways to get involved with the week. The Anti-Bullying Alliance website has a number of resources to use in planning special assemblies and lessons about the topic. There’s also posters, wristbands and more available to support this week and an official campaign pack to download featuring facts, figures and tips about the subject. Plus you can follow the events on social media with the #antibullyingweek hashtag.
Let’s make a noise and help put an end to bullying.
